This pretty tea is a delicious treat in Summer when served chilled as iced tea although it can be served warm too. My partner’s Mum used to make this tea from fresh hibiscus flowers when he was young in Sri Lanka. Hibiscus tea has a tart cranberry-like taste that reminds me of Ribena that I used to drink growing up but without all the sugar! It’s a healthy alternative to soft drinks and cordial for kids. Hibiscus tea is caffeine-free and has lots of health benefits and antioxidant properties. It can help lower blood pressure and high cholesterol. It also helps raise the immune system, improve digestion and skin conditions as well as relieving anxiety and depression symptoms.
This Cornbread is a delicious and healthy alternative to wheat bread. I love to serve it with butter or almond butter as a snack and it is also great for breakfast with savoury toppings like eggs. It’s easy to make and contains only wholesome, unprocessed ingredients.
These Almond and Chocolate Sandwich Cookies are crumbly, wholesome and delicious. The almond meal and coconut flour give a perfect cookie texture. Almond meal contains protein and nutrients that regular flour lacks. Made with gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and refined sugar-free ingredients, they’re easier to digest and a much healthier cookie than most. Almond butter contains healthy oils, protein and other nutrients making a healthy base for the chocolate filling. The chocolate filling is not overly sweet which I prefer but you can add more maple syrup to suit your taste. Hope you enjoy them!
Moist, delicious and made with unprocessed ingredients, these Pumpkin Cookies are a great snack for those who want something sweet and wholesome. The spices go so well with the pumpkin flavour. Almond flour is a healthier alternative to regular wheat flour as it contains protein and healthy oils. These cookies are gluten-free, refined sugar-free and dairy-free if you use coconut oil instead of butter. For sugar-free, use xylitol or stevia. Hope you like them!
This Chocolate Almond Butter Slice reminds me of caramel slice but without all the usual unhealthy ingredients. It’s also gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free. Almond butter is so creamy and delicious making it a great ingredient in a slice. If you don’t have almond butter on hand, you could substitute peanut butter or perhaps another nut or seed butter. This is a thin slice but a little goes a long way. You could double the recipe to make a thicker slice.
