Almond meal contains protein and nutrients that regular flour lacks. Made with gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and refined sugar-free ingredients, they’re easier to digest and a much healthier cookie than most. Almond butter contains healthy oils, protein and other nutrients making a healthy base for the chocolate filling. This Chocolate Almond Butter Slice reminds me of caramel slice but without all the usual unhealthy ingredients. It’s also gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free. Almond butter is so creamy and delicious making it a great ingredient in a slice. If you don’t have almond butter on hand, you could substitute peanut butter or perhaps another nut or seed butter. This is a thin slice but a little goes a long way. You could double the recipe to make a thicker slice.
